![]() | Lord Tobias Hurst, Duke of Devon |
Social Standing: Lord Hurst is cousin to the Prince of Wales, a member of the House of Lords, a land-owner and proud member of the gentry. As such, his allegiance is firmly entrenched with the aristocracy. He has French relatives, some who have escaped, and of course, some, like the Royal Family, who were not so lucky. History and Family: Tobias is the eldest of three children, his two younger siblings both girls. They were married off to men of similar social standing. His father, the previous Duke of Devon, was the fifth brother of the King, and his mother the eldest daughter of the Lord of Huntingdonshire. Lord Hurst married the only daughter of Lord and Lady Warren-Grace; Rebecca Warren-Grace. They have four children, three sons, and a daughter. The family are often at court, enjoying the luxury of London for the majority of the year, and living on their estate, Bailston Abbey, during the summer months. On the death of his father, some twenty years ago now, Lord Hurst inherited the title and lands of the Duke of Devon. This brings in considerable wealth, and allows himself and his family to live more than comfortably. In resent years he has taken to investing in horse racing, and now breeds champion racers in Bailston Abbey's stables. Personality: Lord Hurst is a man who makes sure he has taken care of his responsibilities. He does this by delegating most of it to his staff and to his oldest son. That gives him time to indulge his passions; hunting, hawking, and having others indulge his ego. He enjoys Balls, Salons, parties, Coffee Houses, the Theatre and the Opera. He has had a series of lovers and mistresses, dropping each as they become too boring or familiar, or disgusted by his desire for taboos and the obscene. However, to those whom he does not know on such intimate terms, he is polite, social and friendly. | |
